Maps and Cities

I'm trying to use your map for a sailing blog we're running, and I'm a bit confused. I want to put a point on the map that is not a searchable city, and is also not a point already on a map. Is this possible? I keep clicking and typing in the name (Oyster Pond, St. Martin) but can't seem to add it. The directions for how to use the map suggests that you can only use points that someone else has already added.
