The Bulgarian 'Rockies'

Belogradchik, Bulgaria

Doberdan...!

As always Bulgaria has many surprises for the wondering Westerner...I went to a small town in the North West Bulgaria about 3 hours drive from Sofia...Probably the most amazing Rock formations I've seen so far...they were entered for the 7 Wonders of the World, which I can totally understand...!
Nina is being the best tour guide...We were also celebrating Asen's Birthday (Nina's flatmate's boyfriend).

The weather is mild for a typical November...although I think my 'Donner Kebab' froze on the walk back to the flat last night...!

Hope all is well...Check out the Fortress pics, it was breathtaking views and each Rock had it's own character.
they kinda looked like the the Rocks from MarioLand the (Gameboy version!)

love to all
Rob

Leaving Sofia...

Sofia, Bulgaria

Hello everyone...

Ok a little delayed, but what can I say it's been hard getting my head round the whole trip and spending too many hours in airports...and I think the air conditioning on the my flight has made me slightly crazy...only slightly though...
Although I'm writing this backwards (I'm now in Africa) I just wanted to say a huge Thank-You to my fellow Bulgarians...except the lady at the guest House she was a right....
for making my stay a very welcome one and a special thanks to Nina who is Sofia's most prized treasure...x x x
During the day in Sofia it was usually bright weather. This time I managed to go inside Alexander's Cathedral which was truly amazing with glorious yellow sunlight filtering in through it's windows...it was a heck of a place.
I think one of the highlights had to be the Heavy Metal gig which was an experience in it's self and then later going off to a club where my fellow Bulgarians most of whom couldn't speak much English were singing merly along to classic 80's pop hits, including, 'don't you want me baby' and 'you spin me right round baby'...I thought, why that's brilliant!
I then went on from Sofia to Athens then Dubia (Emirates Rocks) went through a billion time zones only to sleep for about 4 hours on and off...sitting next to a Tunsian Rugby player with the biggist thighs I've every seen ment I had to sleep diogonal and get out the other end of the row if I needed the loo. He was one mean dude.

Landing in South Africa was some else altogether...

Cape Town

Cape Town, South Africa

Hello again...

Cape Towns an amazing place...lots of crazy living going on...with road markets, taxi's as cramed full as sardine tins and so many Jack rustles I've lost count...

So far I've been fortunate enough to see Table mountain close up, it really is unbelieveable...Wine tasting in Stellenbocsh outside of Cape Town...there's to many vine yards... and generally soaking up the 30 c heat in November...! goodbye winter for me I'm afraid...

I arrived in Stellenbocsh today...another beautiful city with surrounding mountain ranges which seem to stretch into infinity...

I thought I'd show Bob "the mechanic' in action as he is a little star and entertained me so much while in Cape Town...

And of course a huge Thank You to Robbie (2nd cousin) and Janet for their warm and generosity, without them I would of quite literally be lost...Thank You.

Hope everythings good in the UK...bad news about the flooding in Cumbria...crazy.

R x
