Jumping in the Forbidden City

The Forbidden City is at the very heart of the Chinese capital. It was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty and it is HUGE ! It consists of 980 buildings with 8,707 bays of rooms and covers 720,000 m²! But it can get a bit boring as, after a few...

Jumping in Beijing Summer Palace

What is great when you're staying at hostels, is that you meet many fellow travelers. People like you that are wandering the world driven by their curiosity towards other cultures and people. Counterpart of meeting many travelers is that you often get jealous of the travels others did, and you...

Jumping in front of Mao

At the heart of Beijing, on the south wall of the Forbidden City stands the famous Mao portrait. Mao oversees the huge Tian'anmen Place. All the area is filled at any time with thousands of tourists (and maybe as nearly as soldiers!).

Northern Capital Revisited

I left Lhasa by plane (from here on out, no more train rides for the remainder of my journey), headed back to Beijing with a quick stop in Chonqing. The airport in Lhasa is quite unique - it's about 65km from Lhasa and sits by itself with nary a thing around it except some dormitory-looking...

Beijing Zoo

Hopped on the train and railed over to the Beijing Zoo. We went the wrong way after we caught the transfer train but recognized our mistake quickly and so we only went one stop before getting off and taking the train the other way. We saw the most rude and funny thing before we got to the zoo....

China,We Finally Meet

After 30 hours of travel I finally made it to Beijing last night, although my stay is a short one as I'm heading to Xi'an tonight by train. The trip from Capital Airport to the hostel was uneventful, although the humidity hit me like a bucket of water as soon as I stepped outside. The first...

Hard Rock Cafe and Hooters

Still having some problems with connectivity and the internet.... We woke up fairly early today. It's another scorcher today (about 97) and so the walking turns out to be a good workout, especially when you get as lost as frequently as we do! We sat around for a while this morning as we...
