On December 28th, I depart for my first experience out of the country (being old enough to remember it). Arriving in Iquitos, Peru on December 29th, I will be conducting independent research on culture and identity, as well as sustainability and biodiversity with twelve other honors students from across the United States, from all different backgrounds. We will spend a few days on a River boat and head up the Amazon River to reach the Madre Selva Biological Station, where we will conduct our Field studies with the indigenous peoples in various communities that interact with the main city of Iquitos.
