Had my first cappucino. My first olive. First time I was rescued from a windsurfer (no wind - current took me away). First time I even fell asleep in a night club because I had not slept for three days.

I didn't expect that.

Got a letter from the postman. Asked if we wanted to go to New York. Not really, I said, but we can try it for a year. But then we are coming home for sure.

Battery Park City is one of the greatest places in world to live. In the shadows of the twin towers [er. not any more - ed] there are a thousand things going on. We loved living in New York.

Picked up the first of our children in Brooklyn Heights.

But after the coldest winter in 3 million years we started wondering 'where can we go that's warm?'
