Second day: went to the village

We left for the Jacksonville airport a bit late, too late to visit our friends John and Jennelle. Hopefully we'll catch up with them on the way home. Of course Irene will miss using those borrowed saris.

Welcome to India

Long flight from Chicago, 14 hours, but very few people on the plane. Customs was a bit slow, but our bags were waiting after we got through. Changed dollars into rupees and headed out the door. Rajat, our taxi driver, was waiting with a "John Gleason - Global Arts Village" sign and smile on his face. "Welcome to India!"

After an exciting taxi trip from the airport we arrived and went staight to bed in our beautiful loft apartment. Sweet dreams!

Steak dinner

We had a 4 hour layover. Since we would be eating vegetarian for 3 months we decided to have one last steak dinner. Yummy!

India Map

Hello family. Hello friends. Only a matter of days before our departure to spend the winter abroad. Global Arts Village in New Delhi, India (www.globalartsvillage.com) will be our first destination and homebase November through the end of January. Following this, we'll stay the month of February in an arts residency apartment in Ascea, a small marina town on the southwestern coast of Italy. I'm sure there will be a thing or two to take a photo of along the way, and we'll attempt to share what's happening throughout our travels on this blog (spotty internet connections and mad elephants notwithstanding).
