Beach Party
Long Beach Perhentian Kecil
,
Malaysia
Table and chairs on the beach
Today we spent the day on the beach again, snorkelling, swiming and Haze of course sun-worshipping, and then went back up to our resort to chill out, drink beer and gin before heading back down to the beach for a beach party!
The beach bar
It certainly was a late night, ladies got free drinks which of course was a bonus even though they were pretty strong and not that nice. But it was quite entertaining especailly when the bar got raided by local poilce officers stealing all the alcohol.

Yet 30 minutes later they miraculously found a lot more beer and spirits stashed away somewhere!
Monkey juice!!
The monkey drinking monkey juice
The boys drank monkey juice which are served in buckets (that are traditionally used to make sand-castles) which is a whole bottle of rum with a can of lemonade.
Love is in the air??
4 monkey buckets later it was 4am and Chris decided to go for a late night swim resulting in me wrestling him on the beach the whole way down...
The night ended hazily at around 5am somehow back at the hotel... Good and messy night!

A lovely day on the beach
Kota Baharu
,
Malaysia
One of the many anchors on the beach designed to trip you up
This morning Chris woke up before 7am and was so excited to have everyone with us he was like a little boy!.. Thus it took a great deal of persuasion to stop him from waking the others. Neil however wasn't so lucky as Chris snuck off and started banging on his door dragging him down to the beach for an early morning swim.
Perhentian Island
The gorgeous beach
We got Haze and Reggie up at about 10am and then we all had breakfast and headed to the beach for the day finding a lovely shaded spot to base ourselves before splashing in the sea and taking Haze snorkelling for the first time.
The lovely sea

Yet us girls weren't as lucky enough to find sharks as the boys were!.. Plenty of time left though and an awesome snorkelling trip we are planning for a couple of days time!

Seeing Hazey, Neil and Reggie again... YAY!!
Kuala Lumpur International Airport
,
Malaysia
OMG we woke up so excited this morning; me especially could hardly contain myself, I was that excited!! We woke up bright and early and caught the monorail into Sentral where we caught a bus to the airport. It was quite a long journey at that time of the morning, but we could hardly complain as the other had been travelling for practically forever to get here. We arrived just as Reggie got off the plane and after a BIG hugs and blocking everyone else from getting out Haze and Neil weren't far behind to deafen the crowds and KLIA with shreaking. We then caught a bus to the other airport about an hour away in preparation for our next flight to Kota Baharu- even though we have only just left there.
Neil, Chris and Reggie
Haze is obviously very excited to see me!
Then after an hour's flight we then did the same in a taxi to catch a
Ferry
to Perhentian Islands!

We found our accomodation relatively easily which is set back away from the noisy beach but is to be fair, a mission to hike up with your bags and chatted the night away...

The Jungle Railway
Kota Baharu
,
Malaysia
Here it comes
All over the internet everyone had raved about 'The Jungle Railway' that you can take from Kota Baharu straight through to Singapore, including many travellers who claimed it was the highlight of their trip to Malaysia, so we were determined not to miss out!
Charly waiting for the train
So we woke up at stupid-o-clock and caught a taxi to the train station. We decided not to go all the way to Singapore though as it would've been pointless and get off at Gemas as we would have gone through Taman Negara already which is the famous jungle in Malaysia.
On the Jungle Railway
It was a 10-hour journey but to be honest was an anti-climax; very over-rated! Pretty much all you could see was dense forest and yes, it was luscious green everywhere, but that was pretty much it and we did get a little bored and as everyone except us slept pretty much the whole way, we think they felt the same!
Another rock in the jungle

The jungle view from the train
Once we arrived in Gemas, we had to take another train to Tampin.
A nice simple map of Malaysian penninsula
This wasn’t a long journey but I did however manage to break a new flat screen T.V by putting on my backpack whilst leaving managing to co-inside with the same time the train decides to break, so I fell backwards on to it hearing a loud, 'POP' sound. "Oops" was all I managed to say in response and myself and Chris quickly jumped off the train and ran around the corner! After a speedy 10-minute walk to find a bus to take us to Melaka, we got on easily and without hassle on an ultra-cheap local bus ride. However, things obviously weren't going to be that easy as half way the bus driver chucked us and the 3 other passengers off the bus in the middle of nowhere at a bus stand saying the bus wasn't full enough for him to continue, so he was going home! We couldn't exactly do much about that so we did as he asked and waited for another! Around 20 minutes later another local bus did arrive and we were so pleased to arrive in Melaka, but not where we hoped it would drop us, so after looking for yet another bus, we gave up and paid for a taxi. Accommodation wasn't cheap and after looking around a few, we chose to splash out and stay in one for £10 a night, which is in fact luxury for 2 nights, and with air-con! Then finally, after 14 hours of travelling we went exploring around Melaka.

We decided to go to Kota Baharu to get on the jungle railway the next morning, even though we would be flying straight back up there in a few days when we have met Haze, Neil, and Reggie. Then again, it seems we just love travelling around everywhere, and by looking at the map of Malaysia that we have travelled so far on this blog; it seems like going in circles seems to be our preferred route!

More Kapas Beaches
Today Chris was feeling a lot better so we went out snorkelling again determined this time to see a shark... We were in fact in luck and we managed to see the back of one swimming away from us! Unfortunately, we never got the chance to see its face but it was unquestionably a shark either way! But it was so quick so we didn't have time to be scared, just happy that we had finally seen one; even if it was just its tail!

Poorly Chris

The beach
Poor Chris woke up today with bad stomach cramps, so we didn't do a great deal today as I wouldn't let him go in the sun or sea whilst he wasn't feeling well. So we instead chilled and read books whilst dosing Chris up with the tasty rehydration sachets listening jealously to all the tales once again of people seeing many sharks, but not us :(
The view
But then again, I can think of worse places to be chilling and reading!

Snorkelling but so far no sharks...
Pulau Kapas
,

The beach where we snorkelled
This morning we woke up and walked 2 beaches away apparently with the best snorkelling. And to be fair it sure was fantastic, with some amazing coral and fishies. Ther are supposed to be loads of ssharks swimming around and we are desperate to see one, if not more, but as yet our luck hasn't been with us. Everyone else that seems to be going out finds at least one, but not us just yet!..
All smiles after snorkelling
