May 29, 2011 - A trip to Peel
Peel
,
Isle of Man
I visited Peel today on the west side of the island and actually saw the sun today, although still (and I think always) windy. Peel castle and cathedral was interesting. It was built by Vikings (under the rule of King Magnus Barelegs...you can't make this stuff up!) in the 11th century. It's built on St. Patrick's Isle and is apparently haunted by "Moddey Dhoo", a black dog ghost. Also saw the ruins of St. Peter's Church. Cute little port town and a good way to waste an afternoon.
TT Race practice starts in Douglas tomorrow night between 6:30-9pm, so I plan on finding a good spot to view some of the action tomorrow...
