Back to Cuzco
Cuzco
,
Peru
I am out of the jungle and staying at the Frankenstein Hostel. I returned to
Cuzco
after an 8 hour motorized canoe ride and an 8 hour bus ride.
Cuzco
is very nice, but a little bit chilly during the night.
I have been to the cathedral and the Inca Museum.
The Cathedral dominates the north-east side of the Plaza de Armas and sits squarely on the foundations of the Inca Viracocha's palace. The Cathedral was begun in 1550 and completed nearly 100 years later, constructed in the shape of a Latin cross.
Yesterday we went to the Sacsayhuaman ruins (right outside of
Cuzco
) and rode horses!! It was fun.
Sacsayhuaman- ruins of a magnificent Inca fortress overlooking the city of Cusco. The fortress is generally attributed to the period of Inca Pachacuti, the man who essentially founded the Inca empire.
