Finally getting our act together
Lilongwe
,
Malawi
The first two weeks of our trip have come and gone already so we figured it would probably be about time to start our blog. So, here it is! We've spent the past two weeks working with World Camp for Kids in
Malawi
, Africa. World Camp is a not-for-profit organization committed to empowering children in impoverished communities around the world through education. World Camp teaches HIV/AIDS prevention, nutrition, gender equality, environmental awareness and human rights. Check it out online at www.worldcampforkids.org.
We have already taught at a refugee camp, a primary school, and an orphange. The children have been surprisingly receptive to what we are here to teach them and also well aware of the HIV/AIDS epidemic that is crippling their country and the world. It has been amazing to work with children as young as 9 and as old as 29. They are eager to learn and always happy. Everyone is always smiling and wanting to play. It's hard not to act like a kid with them.
We have only three more weeks left before we pickup and move to our next destination:
Cape Town
,
South Africa
. Never fear, we'll be back with stories very soon, we just wanted to get this up and running. Enjoy the pictures amd check out where we're going and what we'll be doing!
