Here I am!

How to start the first blog? I should have started this months ago but when i left i had no idea if I was gonna have access to a computer, much less internet. And well now, funny thing i have a lap top and internet right in my living room. So i will write. And family is always asking for pictures
I'll give you a quick jist of my experience this far with Peace Corps living and then the rest of my blogs i hope will make sense by showing pictures and adventures and such.
I work in Old Road Village and live on Green Tree Project in the village. It happens to be a bit nicer than the rest of the village and so I feel pretty safe and comfortable. After months of frustrations and realizations i'm coming to understand my place within this whole experience.
My work description seems to change from day to day and i just try to flow with it. I get to choose when, where and how i want to work but that depends much on the people around me and how willing they are to work with me or just let me help. Heres some of the things that i do. Other projects are here and thier and coming along and going no where and well thats just the reality of Community Development work. So heres some stuff i occupy myself with (but it all can change so fast):
-Three days a week i teach remedial reading at the primary school.
- After setting up a school library i also do the librarian duties trying to make sure all the kids go home with a book each week and bring them back.
- I help out with Girls Brigade at the Methodist church on Monday nights
-I help keep the brand new Community Center Library running and play the librarian with a local friend on Satuerday mornings. Tuesday and Thursday evening I most likely am there too for now.
- I play with toys (spinning type flagy things and such) on Thursdays, but that is sorta post-poned at the moment, as library work and the Cubans have gotten in the way. (strang story...)
-Sundays i go to church, which is no light matter here. between 3 to 6 hours, but they praise like no other, and so i enjoy the experience.
-Other than that i go to different meetings with the Ministry of Community Development, or Peace Corps, or in my community. Lots of errand running and planning, workshops... Summer is coming up and and it will be camp time...
I've come to the realization that i can write for ever and ever about this hole experience but that would only be entertaining to me for a while and you the reader would get board quite fast. So i will try and tell you only the things I enjoy talking about the most.
