You can actually add places to the map if they're not already there. From the "Maps" tab, zoom in to where the town is supposed to be, then look for a button at the base of the map, cleverly labeled "add stuff to the map".

That'll let you add a genuine city to our database, which should then show up in the city list when you go to write a blog entry. Let me know if it gives you any grief!
