Ross to Rome

Rome, Italy

Arrived Leonardo Da Vinci airport 8am on a wet Black Friday with my bike box (Over sized luggage). Customs was easy despite my fears about my return ticket being out of London six months later! Great airport, simple and efficient to navigate with very helpful English speaking staff. Guys touting outside tried to sell various transport to Rome. First guy wanted €45, last one offered €35 to shuttle me to door, which I accepted.

What a ride that turned out to be! The 30 min trip turned into a 3hr journey with long periods of relative calm punctuated by moments of "terror" ;-) The driver was shopping for shoes with his iPad resting on the steering wheel while talking on his iPhone and presumably, steering with his knees! In his defence it was during long slow traffic jam out of the airport. We saw at least four car crashes, vehicles that had slid into walls in slippery conditions.
