The Singapore Sling. Great photo, Angela. A random American took this photo (not to be confused with the fat peanut eaters). You can see we look a little nervous. Angela succeeds in her attempt to look like a deer trapped in headlights while sipping her cocktail. Ollie makes an attempt to look really manly with a cocktail in his hand. Some bars in Canada and the USA used to encourage this. If they offered peanuts in the bar area, there would be peanut husks like that everywhere. I haven't seen that in a long time, but I don't go to bars any more ;). With peanut allergies being an issue, I am not sure how smart it would be to continue that practice.
I recall being at "Jack Astor's" in their early days (and my early days). Peanut husks all over the floor. I kept my peanut husks in a neat little pile on a plate. The bartender happily poured me a beer and dumped my plate of peanut husks on the on the floor as he passed.

I am guessing those Americans are from a place were that is still common. Just the same, they shouldn't have dumped them on the floor without observing other patrons and inquiring with the staff.
