We first went to Cake Bread Wineries in Rutherford. First tastings of wine - and I started to get more serious about the wine. Nothing spectacular about the winery though. The Sauvignon Blanc was fab.
Next came Robert Mondavi - a much larger and classier winery. The architecture of the place was very nice. The cellars used to age wines with the endless rows of wine-barrels were a treat for the eyes. I liked the Fume Blanc at this place was my fav.
We did lunch at a grill place - and then headed out for two more wineries. The first was housed Castillo Di Amores - a brilliant recreation of a 15th century castle.
The final stop was at V. Settui. Teeming with people the wine bar here was fun. As the day of wine-tasting came to an end : I realize my favourite wines are the Cabernet Sauvignon, Suavignon Blanc, Merlot, Zinfandel in that order.
