Anping Fort (Old Fort Zeelandia) 安平古堡Tainan City
安平古堡 pronounced: an ping2 gu3 bao3
Top level had tour guides, and a building which had small exhibits including Chinese and Dutch weapons of the time. It was hot and the exhibit area was really too small for our rather large group, so I waited for a later tour long after the main crowd had finished. A few cannons were on the top level balcony, overlooking Tainan City. White observation tower offers a higher view. In the middle level, there were small local band performances, a stone pillar and a Zheng Cheng Gong 鄭成功 statue.
Outside, some of the original Dutch fort's thicker bricks were still visible on the path and some walls. The later non-military construction by the Japanese used much smaller bricks.
Anping Artillery Fort 安平小砲台. Visited a very small 6 x 8m cannon platform, now within in a sad little pond. It was only a short walk down the street after visiting Anping Old Fort, Tainan
The entire area was: National Anping Harbor Historic Park
