Map of japan


Is it possible to have the japanese city names on the basemap in english (umm western err alpabet.. not sure what it's called) characters? as opposed to japanese characters? thanks!

Believe me, nothing would make me happier than to get better map imagery for Asia and the rest of the world. Unfortunately, we're using Google's Mapping engine for our maps, and are therefore only able to show the imagery that they provide. They've expanded their detailed coverage a lot over the last year. With luck, they'll continue to improve.

One further strike for Japan is that Google's map imagery seems to always use local names and character sets for city names. Here in Bulgaria, I'm seeing everything in Cyrillic for example. I think that the Japanese characters might be there to stay.
