Small town listing

Noticed that the small town listing contains the same names several times...why is that?

Some countries have more than one town by the same name. The US, for instance has two Portlands and nine Spring Valleys. Some countries just go nuts and name everything the same. Try searching on "Guadalupe" in the World Browser for an extreme example.

There's not really all that much we can do about this from a data standpoint. I have some ideas for improvements to the mapping to make it easier to figure out which Guadalupe is which, but it might be a while before I get them into the World Browser.

I just pushed a new feature that will help with this problem. Check out the World Browser to see it in action. (it's also available in the comment editor)

http://www.blogabond.com/WorldBrowser.aspx

Type the first half of a place name into the search box, wait for the autocomplete to come back, then scroll down the list of names. It should show the place you're hovering over on the map.

This had been bothering me for a while. I Hope that this makes the site a bit more usable.
