uploading photos


well, some photos(many) won't transfer onto the site, not sure why. but there's some beauties I'd like to put on. any ideas? I have access to a computer with port, it's pretty quick. and as you can see, I can do some....

Indeed, according to our logs, the Photo Uploader had 3 failed upload attempts in a row, just a few minutes ago.

My bet is that you have a Really Nice Camera, and are therefore generating Really Giant Photos. We have a limit of 5mb for uploads, which is just within the realm of possibility for the lates crop of digital cameras.

The technical solution to this would be to resize those photos down to a smaller file size. We only store them at 800x600, so there is no reason to upload your raw 2048x1500 jpgs. (especially since it will take forever just to transfer them).

But then, I'm not much for forcing people to jump through hoops, so I guess the real solution is to just teach the Uploader to deal with larger raw files. This has been happening more frequently in the last few weeks (maybe once every other day), so I guess it's time to deal with it.

Thanks for reminding me! I'll let you know when the uploader is working better.

Ok, all fixed. All told, it took less time to fix and test than it did to write that last message. Sorry again for the inconvenience. Let the big photos fly!
