New Zealand

We have decided to write a blog for our New Zealand leg of our round the world adventure so here goes! . . . .

Quite excited about leaving Australia, we have had our fill and are extremely looking forward to moving onto somewhere new! We are both quite new to this so just sitting in our hostel in Melbourne making our profile and writing our first blog entry to see if it all works as planned!

We fly out to Auckland on the 7th January so we will start our first blog on New Zealand soil then . . . Adventure sports, Mountains, Hobbitts and Maori here we come!

Our flight to New Zealand began with an early morning get up and in the sunshine of Melbourne, 3 hours later and we were touching down in a drenched Auckland! the weather did not dampen our spirits though as we found our hostel and checked out the local irish bar for a pie and a pint, it was the best meal we have eaten in a long time :) I (Mike) brought some walking shoes so am all set for some hiking in the weeks to come.

We jumped on the Kiwi Express the following morning and were taken over to Hot Water Bay, the bus driver Mar also doubles up as a tour guide and has relaxed any nerves or doubts we had about our stay in New Zealand. The Kiwi Express literally organise everything for us, all we have to do is sit on the bus, take in the scenery and jump off go exploring whenever we stop. Mar passes round a sheet with the room type we want i.e. dorm, double etc and whilst we are off adventuring he rings the hostels and sorts our accomodation, same goes for trips. We are staying at a lodge in a holiday park tonight which is probably better than anywhere we have stayed in Australia! We have been out for a long walk to Cathedral cove and now its time for a bit of snap, very tired and looking forward to a good nights sleep in our extremely comfy bunk beds!
