Benvenuti a Italia

Florence, Italy

I am off to Italy for the semester and I am extremely excited. I was a little nervous about the flight over to Italy since it was my first time flying BUT there ended up being a girl in my program sitting beside me on the plane that was on the same flight so we figured out how to get to our flight in Germany. The German airport was the only thing that scared me so I was happy to have her with me to find where to go. When it came to landing in Florence it was so weird realizing that I was going to be living in a foreign country for 4 months. That is when it really hit me that it really was happening and it was a great feeling. I was excited to start the semester and to experience Italy. Here are a few pictures of the airport and airplane i flew in.

first look at florence

Florence, Italy

The first few days in Italy we had a lot of orientation stuff with API but it was alot of fun. We stayed at Hotel Bagoilini in Florence and had a nice dinner on the rooftop of the hotel.
Here are a few pictures of where we had our dinner. I had ziti with pesto and didn't really like it but i was too jet lagged to really feel hungry. It was a really nice dinner though.

In our hotel the first night our room had the awesome green shudder windows that opened up and i was really excited to open them up so i made Courtney take a photoshoot of me opening up my first window in italy! haha
Here are the pictures of me opening up the window :)
(yes I know I am a loser)

The day after our first day in Florence we went on a tour of Florence with API. It was nice to see around but we couldnt really hear our tour guide so I just walked around and took pictures of the sites that we saw. Here are a few pictures that I took on the tour of churches, vespas, the Arno River/ Ponte Vechio, and the Uffitzi museum area

After our tour we hung out with some kids in our program with API. We walked around and got our first gelato of Florence and had some lunch at a small Italian Restaurant. I got pasta with regular sauce and it was pretty good. Here is a picture of me and courtney with some of our friends that we made during the first night in Florence. Two of the girls we hung out with were from Stonehill. I thought it was funny that we were in a foreign country looking to find friends from different places and ended up hanging out with Stonehill kids.

These first few days were extremely busy/tiring but it was really exciting to be in Italy. The most tiring day was the third day when we moved into our apartments. Unfortunately we were on the third floor so I had to carry two of my heavy bags up to our apartment. Though our apartment is really nice.(Me and Courtney lucked out and got the biggest bedroom) We flipped a coin with our roommates and lucked out and got it which was nice. Later that night we hung out and went out to eat with our roommates which was nice to bond with him. Here are a few pictures of me and courtneys room and that night that we went out.

cooking class/first few nights out

Florence, Italy

Api set up a program with us that had us go to a cooking class one night. We made gnocci and some sort of salad (I forget the name of the salad but it was good) then we also made tiramasui which was my favorite. Our instructor was really funny and reminded me of my uncles on my dads side of the family LOL Here are a few pictures from that night

Then later that night me and courtney went out and dressed up. We took a photoshoot in front of graphiti on our street. There is alot of graphiti in Florence! I don't like it because it ruins how beautiful the city actually is. Here are a few pictues of our lovely photoshoot
