Quite a Ride to

Paris, France

We flew from Los Angeles to Chicago and on to Paris. Very uncomfortable flight. The seats were so close together and the seats only reclined about four inches. I understood why first class is so much more expensive. It had not been two years since 9/11 and the security at the airports was welcomed but still tedious.

First day in

Paris, France

We arrived at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport almost 15 hours after leaving Los Angeles. Of course we had a 2 hour lay over in Chicago. Then there was the time diference of 7 more hours. Needless to say, we were worn out. Fortunately before we left on the trip we had reserved a brand new Renault Kangoo and it was waiting for us at the airport. Since this was my third time visiting Paris, I had a good idea where our hotel was located. But traffic had increased at least five-fold since 1967, it made it more difficult. Also there is no pattern to the streets of Paris. Lots of narrow streets that zig and zag and mandantory turns in directions you don't want to go. But with persistence we found our hotel. And, oh yes, most street maps of Paris do not have all the streets on them, only the larger streets. It is like navigating a maze.
We did explore the neighborhood around the hotel and found a nice place to eat. We ate there several times in our week in Paris.
