April 14, 2011 - Bike ride to Musselburgh
Musselburgh
,
United Kingdom
Well, Matt and I were able to take our 26 mile round-trip bike ride to the North Sea at
Musselburgh
without any rain, despite the cloudy skies. The temperature was perfect for a long ride (about 55 degrees) and our trek out seemed effortless (maybe because it was mostly downhill!). We took the same bike path we used to get to Rosslyn Chapel and just kept going for another 10
Miles
.
The ride was pleasant with lots of nice scenery and followed the Esk River most of the way. Once in
Musselburgh
, we took a break for lunch at the Caprice Restaurant before starting our journey back...although we both just wanted to take a nap!
The return trip was a little more arduous with a few uphill climbs and a slight uphill grade for over half the distance. And a strong headwind just to make it challenging! Needless to say, we are both quite tired and a lot saddle sore. I plan on taking a nice hot bath tonight while Matt is in
Edinburgh
...
For now, off to have one last afternoon tea with Matt, as he is leaving tomorrow afternoon.
Love to all,
Karen
