April 27, 2011 - trip to Biggar & New Lanark
Lanark
,
United Kingdom
Cesar and I had the day off today...WooHoo!! Slept in (as much as possible on a farm full of noisy roosters and ducks!!!) and then did another 10
Miles
, at least, of walking.
After breakfast, Cesar and I walked the 2
Miles
to Symington and caught the bus to Biggar (about 5.5
Miles
from Feu
Field
Farm). We explored Biggar, which is not so big, had some tea and cake at Aroma Cafe, and caught the bus to Lanark. Once in Lanark, we walked another 2
Miles
into New Lanark to visit the World Heritage Centre, which was a cotton mill, village, and school built about 200 years ago...it is now a tourist attraction, hotel, and hostel. We hiked about a mile up the river path to the water fall and back and then returned to Lanark for some lunch and more roaming about. We then returned by bus to Symington and walked the 2
Miles
back to the farm...and collapsed!
Back to work tomorrow, but I will have another day off on Friday...with the rest of the country for the Royal
Wedding
.
I took more photos today, including a great shot of a beautiful clydesdale horse in a
Field
on the way to Symington, but my camera was acting up and I lost about half of them :(
