April 28, 2011 - Feufield Farm

Today, in addition to mucking out the hen and duck/goose Houses, I got to clean the dog House. And in this case "House" is literal (see photos below). The 3 Rhodesian Ridgebacks don't come in the main House like the other 4 dogs, so they have their own...complete with wood burning stove for the winter, comfy chairs, and a TV. Hmmmm...a little spoiled?

The 6 ducklings I had a photo of on an earlier blog went to a good home today and we took in a rescue Gander. We are hoping the new Gander will take a fancy to the newly widowed goose. She's only been here a short time and her mate was killed by another goose on the farm :( she spends most of her time alone now and I've been feeding her separately because she doesn't stampede the food like all the others do. Anyway, she's the only goose that stays in the yard at night (rather than a House), but now he's out there too, so maybe they'll form a bond. She showed interest in him this afternoon, so hopefully he's smart enough to see that she's the most beautiful goose out there.

Well, I'm off again tomorrow, so I'll probably be watching the royal Wedding like the rest of the UK...can you believe they have Friday and Monday off?

BTW, if you think gas prices are high there...here, $8.75/gallon US dollars is the conversion rate!! Yikes!!! Bicycle anyone?
