Chris and Charly's Passage through SE Asia

This passage will be our longest one and it will be during our time in SE Asia visiting Malaysia, The Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, proabaly in this order before flying to Australia towards the end of September. Unfortunately we've run out of time to go to Burma and Vietnam... maybe next time!

Woke up pretty tired from running about working, so was fast asleep until 11am when Chris started banging on the door, he had already left and eaten breakfast before I even surfaced! Hard life I know! Just chilled the afternoon away trying to fix the laptop- no idea what’s wrong with it, but very irritating! Then, started work at 4pm- very quiet to begin with, but a little crazy from 7:30pm when the customers started to flock in. I forget just how tiring running about a restaurant is, especially in this climate, the humidity just kills you!

The bar was ridiculously quiet all day and night. So didn’t really have to do much, just serve a couple of people. So, we locked up at 10pm, a nice change from the usual 1:30am. Chris and Dick went out to another local bar with local music and didn’t resurface again until gone 3am and I sat outside for 4 hours being eaten alive by mosquitoes trying to keep updated on my poorly sick brother… So hope he pulls through and is better soon… We’re all thinking of you and praying for the best xxxx

Not a lot to report about today finally dragged myself out of bed at about 1:30pm after a rubbish sleep due to Chris’ snoring and fidgeting all night. The bar got pretty busy for a while in the evening, full of fussy and impatient customers which reminded me of working back in the U.K. with a forced smile plastered on my face. But closed up early at 11:30pm as everyone left early.

Tried to keep ourselves busy as much as possible.
So, ended up sitting at the end of the bar with a glass of wine in hand…

Long day

Long day today.
Stayed pretty much glued to the computer as I have done for the past week awaiting news on Darran.
Got an update that he is now critical.
So have been worried sick and praying all day.
Oh yeah, work was boring.

R.I.P to my brother Darran :( xxx

Sadly my brother, Darran passed away today. So a very sad and emotional day for everyone who knew and loved him, especially Sharon, his wife and Bridget, his mother and I know myself and my Sisters and Stuart my brother. Many people grieving today. It’s really hard being away from home when all this is happening. Glad I have Chris.

Think I finally dragged myself out of bed at 2pm.
Had the worst night’s sleep ever.
Quiet again.
Locked up at 10:30pm.
Nothing much occurred.
Apart from the biggest cockroach in the world landed on Chris.
Highly amusing watching him dancing behind the bar trying to shake it off.

Something's been eating my clothes...?

I currently own 3 pairs of trousers. Put 2 of them in the wash yesterday and 2 of them have come back with holes down the left leg. Gutted, they won’t last much longer and they were good ones, can’t buy decent clothes out here like that, and no way can afford the same in Oz. Think a rat might have eaten them, or the stupid washing machine. Either way not good. Busy day at work again.
