dude,
forget the stuff.. it is details.. not critical.. bar tape, cork vs duct vs masking vs electical.. whatever..not impt.. now what is important is saddle soreness, or numbness.. trust me, been there done that..many times.. and i still go back: like the guy who hits his head against the wall,,he does it because it feel good when he stops..

Where are you tonight? I have not heard from you today and am hoping that the pink bathroom tub did not swallow you up in pinkness!

I love you and will speak with you tomorrow?
Did you get the permit for Algeria? However, just so you know we are happy to come get you in Tunsia...it is enough of an adventure for us - Mia and I that is.....but that would mean we would have to live with you still longing to go back....and finish the trip....Nah...stay and fight through the permit issues and know that we are at the other end waiting with our arms open and longing to hug you!
love,

Hey Roel,

Love the photos.
They are fab.

Really liked the pink bathroom in Tunisia. It's so much better than ours at 62 in Acton...the Arab world can be more sophisticated than we westerners allow...

Hope you realize that you are not alone in your exertions...although it might feel that way on the road...we're enjoying the trip vicarously a lot...it's such an act of generosity to do all this work for us!!!

best,

Ann

Roel: I continue to be amazed at your tolerance of the vicissitudes of outrageous fortune that you have to endure on a daily basis. I don't think I could do more than one day of it. I say this having just returned from a 10-day extended-family trip to Ecuador & Galapagos. I was constantly beset by major life-threatening worries like: Would I suffer from altitude sickness? (I did, but it was relatively minor); Would my diuretic medication aggravate bathroom anxiety on bus trips and sightseeing? (it did, in spades); Would my Metamucil run out? (it did, figuratively, that is); Would I get the dreaded traveller's gastrointestinal problem? (no, but 3 out of 13 in our family group did). But all these contingencies were minor compared to what you have to deal with and in any case one was always assured of having a comfortable hotel or ship to return to. So I take my hat off, Roel.

John:
Excellent trip!! Sounds like quite a clan: I didn't know there were that many of you. I must say, travelling with people you know and love definitely takes the edge off...I'm glad you came through intact.
Regards,
Roel
