The wedding.
Harbin
,
China
The ayi's son fell in love and now will live happily ever after.
We attended the wedding on our lunch hour from teaching Saturaday classes.
The lunar calandar has double May this month. And this was an especially lucky day because it was dragon boat day again, although the dragon festival was not celebrated a 2cd time. The weather was very unlucky with a big downpour and flash flood. We walked to the wedding, so were quite wet.
It was a loud fun time!
Walking to the wedding.
Teenager. High heels come in handy in the flash flood. A little dangerous though.
Dress 1. Bride and groom arrive in the same car.
The bride gets out of the car & pins a flower in the ayi's hair
The ayi (groom's mom) gives the bride a red envelope.
The red bowl is very important. It is carried to the various apartments before the wedding and to the ceremony.
Groom's family
The front entrance has giant inflatable lucky animals.
We've been facinated by this place for a while. We were excited to go to a wedding in there!
These mean good luck.
Giant statue in the wedding facility
This palace was wedding dreams come true. They seemed to cater to every imaginable bridal fantasy.
The food. Several dishes straight off the China Survivor food challenge. Nothing we haven't eaten before!
This dish was good, some kind of coconut fried pastry
Dress 3, the familis say things & they drink together
The bride & groom toast each table, about 20. She's drinking H2O, he's toasting with chinese moonshine, baijiu
After the wedding guests were given bags to take home food, our table was rushed because we had lots of leftovers.
Teenager and the bride
Ayi's mom age 70, so proud & sweet!
