'A haiku journey around the world' by DE Wasake (Ugandan poet)

Jinja, Uganda

Classical warmth

Snow falling heavily,
Am sitted by the fireplace;
Beethoven is warming my soul.

Chang in the Field,

Chang in the Field,
Planting rice,
The wind blows gently.

Walking by the docks

Walking by the docks,
Marley is playing,
Conch* is frying.

In Osaka

In Osaka sipping sake,
And eating rice cake,
At a roadside café named Wasake.

The carnivore crowd

Carnivore queens, Carnivore drums
Making me smile, making my heart dance.

Mother kangaroo,

Mother kangaroo, crossing the desert road,
Mother driving the car, stops to let her hop past.

At home

Opening the window,
The Savannah grass dancing in the wind,
An elephant walks by.
