London Baby

London, United Kingdom

No shopping only serious sight seeing today from 8.00 - 6.30. We have seen most of the landmarks including changing the guard at BP, London Tower, Thames river ride, NZ memorial in Hyde Park and many other favourites.

Last night we caught up with Annabel and the choir which was great. They got four silver medals in Prague so were happy. She was also billeted with one of the girls that stayed with us two years ago. Annabel had done no sight seeing - as they said, the sights will be there for years but the clothes won't.

Off to meet Margie Bargh tonight.

London here we come!

Zurich, Switzerland

Our last bus trip from Luzern to Zurich, our last Swiz watch shop and the last mum will see of her Jersey which was left in the airport somewhere.

Sunny London and nice hotel.

Getting tired!

party time

Luzern, Switzerland

Four countries in one trip today ending in a fantastic hotel in Luzern.

We did some sight seeing then went to a Swiz restaurant where we were allowed two drinks only and a group entertained us with horn blowing, bottle playing, cow bell ringing, flag throwing and other wicked things.

Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

Yesterday we had a long bus drive to Prague. Lots of crops, trees, vine yards and more crops.

We know the people on the bus now which was useful as Colin was able to direct Mum out of the mens WC and to the ladies.

We travelled down the motorway built during communist times. It was probably built to last, but was very bumpy. We have seen lots of fabulous buildings, although Meredith doesn't want to see another one now.

People can't believe mum is 83 especially after she had downed a jug (well tankard) of beer and started dancing to the piano accordion.

Slightly rainy and cold today. On to Munich tomorrow.

The watery city

Venice, Italy

We are up and away early which means we are first on the boat to Venice (or would have been if it was there) - first onto the square, first into the glassworks and almost first into MacDonald's for a cup of tea to recover. Went on a long boat ride on the lagoon and was not sick.

I have been a dismal failure shopping. Can't find anything that I REALLY want to buy.

Hot weather!

On Route

Zurich, Switzerland

Who said 30 hours in economy was an issue. No problem if you are short. I had plenty of leg room and managed to sleep a lot. The stop over in LAX was painless and we all arrived via London to Zurich in one piece. My ankles got left on route somewhere though. I just had feet and thighs by the time we checked in. (Great hotel)

D day

Lower Hutt, New Zealand

It should have been a breeze today - how long can it take to pack 9 kg of luggage? Not long, but I didn't count on Annie saying she needed two pairs of back trousers, walking shoes and, and, and....

Arrived fashionably slightly late at the airport only to find my plane had been rescheduled and left in 15 minutes - slight panic but made the plane and so did my luggage!

Day one minus one

Wellington, New Zealand

At work and doing heaps and heaps. Well not really. I have made apologies to everyone I was meant to do work for with lots of promises of what I will do when I return.
