Yes, indeed
Luang Prabang
,
Laos
During this trip, we've come across many other travellers who were following similar routes, in other direction, in a different order, but with the same essential stops. We always take this chance to exchange some info: Where have you been? Was it nice? Is it expensive? Is it worthy? Of course everything depends on your interests, likes and dislikes, but a quite common response was 'You're gonna love Luang Prabang'.
At some point we even became worried, maybe it's too crowded, too many tourists... And touristy it is, but trust me, who cares? This place is just awesome. We both agree that it's likely to be the most beautiful place we've ever seen.

That's not very objective anyway, cause the excitement of what's happening right here, right now, the present emotions, always overcome the past. I actually remember having the same thoughts about many places during this and other trips, especially in the last couple of years.
The thing is I was expecting a bigger town, something like Siem Reap, and this is a tiny village surrounded by mountains and enclosed by two rivers, carefully preserved, with lovely quiet streets merged with a stunning landscape.

There are also many, but many temples, some of them very impressive, as this is the spiritual and religious centre of the country.

It was also the first capital of the country... a pretty small one but...
The black spot? Well, there's a market. A really really nice market, colourful, with plenty of amazing and cheap stuff.

We've bought too many things... And now our backpacks are much heavier and our budget much lower... Anyway dealing with the sellers has been such an experience, I've never bargained so much in my entire life. And it works! Especially if you're the first client of the day... then they lower the price quite a lot and, after the deal is made, they touch all the items with the money you gave them, so it'll bring them luck for the day... We're the lucky ones anyway, we've been since we decided to make this trip.
