Kolikon molempia puolia Hoi An:issa

Vietnamin matkailijoiden suosikki on Hoi An. Pieni pittoreski kaupunki taynna vanhaa arkkitehtuuria ja raataliliikkeita. Monet ravintolaruoat ovat myos olleet parasta antia koko matkalla tahan asti, Hoi Anin paikalliset ruoat sulaa suuhun ja hinnat ovat kohtuulliset. Kaupunki muuttuu yon...

Hoi An

As we have now taken many bus journeys, we have developed a coping strategy, which involves getting a take away pizza prior to departure. Cold pizza is the equivalent of a 3 course gourmet dinner when you are stuck on a bus for eternity with stops at places that serve unmentionable things ! I...

Hoi An

A short flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Danang and a 45 minutes taxi ride brought us to Hoi An which is an old trading port of Vietnam. The city is since 1999 protected by UNESCO so the buildings in the old part of town are preserved and apparently look very much like they did hundred of...

Hoi an

Ok, after the rain in Nha trang we arrived in Hoi an for a little more rain...but only for one day fortunately. Hoi an is a very charming village with old french colonial houses, a river flowing through and it is also marked as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The old part of Hoi an has some...

Hoi An Happenings

Arriving back in Hanoi after Ha Long Bay, Joc, Carl, Katie, Jennie, and I said "later!" to Aaron who headed off to Hue and decided ourselves to make our way to Hoi An a day earlier than planned. Unfortunately (um, except not), the only seats available for the following day were on business...

In search of the perfect seven dollar meal (continued)

I'm still in Hoi An, halfway through my 30 day visa. It's just that pleasant here. Tonight, I had to avoid another incredible Vietnamese meal, if only to keep my sanity. The food is so good. The food is so cheap! I usually go for two appetizers, a main dish, and possibly a couple glasses of the...

several small bowls of good

Made it to Hoi An. The food here rocks, as advertised. Good call to those who recommended this place. I was a bit doubtful about this country after Vinh and the stare-fest of a reception I got. now that there's other mzungu around to share in the hassle, it's much easier. May stay a while.
